- Again this year the popular Barbershop Concert and Vintage Baseball Game at Sauder Village
will offer a fun-filled way for guests to create special memories while
enjoying traditional activities of days-gone-by. On Saturday, August 23rd the
sweet harmonies of barbershop music and cheers from the old-time baseball game
will fill the air during this popular event in Archbold, OH.
“Barbershop music and baseball are both American traditions
and a great way to celebrate the summer season,” shares Kim Krieger, Sauder Village.
“With the upbeat music and the excitement of watching an old-time base ball
game, guests can really enjoy a day filled with great memories from the past
while creating special memories together that will last a lifetime!”
The Barbershop Concert will be held at 1:00 PM in Founder’s
Hall. This annual concert always draws award-winning performers and this year
is no exception. The Southern Gateway Chorus will delight crowds with the sweet
sounds of their barbershop harmony. The Cincinnati Southern Gateway Chorus is
celebrating its 50th year by fulfilling its vision of being a
world-class chorus. Their high-energy performances have been seen in more than
24 major U.S. cities
including New York’s
Carnegie Hall. This spirited chorus has been awarded 22 medals on their 29
competitive appearances and has won the coveted gold medal twice.
During the afternoon, the Great Black Swamp Frogs from Toledo and the Ohio
Village Muffins of Columbus will take the field for the annual Sauder Village
Vintage Baseball Game. Both teams, dressed in vintage uniforms, work to bring
the history of the game to life. They will face each other at 2:30 in the
pasture area and will play by 1860s rules. Following the game, the teams will
invite the youngest guests to try their hands at hitting the leather ball and
running the bases.
