Vintage Baseball Game and Barbershop Concert at Sauder Village

Archbold, OH - Again this year the popular Barbershop Concert and Vintage Baseball Game at Sauder Village will offer a fun-filled way for guests to create special memories while enjoying traditional activities of days-gone-by. On Saturday, August 23rd the sweet harmonies of barbershop music and cheers from the old-time baseball game will fill the air during this popular event in Archbold, OH.

“Barbershop music and baseball are both American traditions and a great way to celebrate the summer season,” shares Kim Krieger, Sauder Village. “With the upbeat music and the excitement of watching an old-time base ball game, guests can really enjoy a day filled with great memories from the past while creating special memories together that will last a lifetime!”

The Barbershop Concert will be held at 1:00 PM in Founder’s Hall. This annual concert always draws award-winning performers and this year is no exception. The Southern Gateway Chorus will delight crowds with the sweet sounds of their barbershop harmony. The Cincinnati Southern Gateway Chorus is celebrating its 50th year by fulfilling its vision of being a world-class chorus. Their high-energy performances have been seen in more than 24 major U.S. cities including New York’s Carnegie Hall. This spirited chorus has been awarded 22 medals on their 29 competitive appearances and has won the coveted gold medal twice.

During the afternoon, the Great Black Swamp Frogs from Toledo and the Ohio Village Muffins of Columbus will take the field for the annual Sauder Village Vintage Baseball Game. Both teams, dressed in vintage uniforms, work to bring the history of the game to life. They will face each other at 2:30 in the pasture area and will play by 1860s rules. Following the game, the teams will invite the youngest guests to try their hands at hitting the leather ball and running the bases.

Historic Sauder Village is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM and each Sunday afternoon from 12:00-4:00 PM through October 26. Village admission is $12.50 for adults and $6.25 for students ages 6-16. Children 5 and under are free with family and discounts are available for seniors and AAA members.
