Montpelier Council Meeting from Monday, March 8, 2010: The Village
of Montpelier Council met
in regular session last night. They began by approving the revised agenda
for last night and the minutes from their last regular meeting. The
Village Manager, Pam Lucas, then made mention of the fact that Montpelier
was named Tree City USA for 2009. She also made
mention of a grant in the amount of $400,000 was given to Montpelier to repair
Cranberry Run, a 54 inch storm sewer pipe that runs through town. Rick
Warner then addressed the council with dates for the Cruise-In over the
summer. The first 2 will be held the second and fourth Tuesday of
June. Then the council discussed fire contracts with EMS Director Jim
Hicks, 911 Communications Director Tim Jonovich and Superior Township
Trustees. After a long discussion, the council decided to pass a motion
to postpone and decisions on the Fire Contract until the Mayor writes a letter
to send to the Fire Chiefs Association to clarify details pertaining to the
contract. They then approved the Village Manager to sign the
Acknowledgement of Membership for Ohio Plan Risk Management followed by
suspending the rules and passing a Resolution authorizing the Village Manager
to file an application and enter into an agreement with ODNR for acquiring
funds for urban forestry assistance. The council tabled a few items on
the agenda to discuss in Executive session along with reviewing the Income Tax
Report where as of Friday, March 6, 2010, they had $300,659, as compared to
$362,999 at the end of March of 2009 and $345,078 at the end of March
2008. The council later moved into Executive Session to discuss personnel
and possible pending litigation, the tabled items regarding finances and
appropriations, and reserving the right to discuss other items.
