Ohio Schools Object to FirstEnergy Plan

Cleveland, Ohio (AP) – School leaders are telling the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio that a halt to the 13.4 percent electricity rate discount could mean nearly $12 million in additional annual costs to 249 public school districts in the state.
The Ohio Schools Council detailed the cost at commission meetings on a proposed rate change sought by Akron-based FirstEnergy, which wants to eliminate the discounts.
The council is a buying cooperative for 123 districts in northern Ohio.
