New Foreclosure Cases Hit Record in Ohio COLUMBUS, Ohio
(AP) - Data released by the Ohio Supreme Court shows that the number of new
foreclosure cases filed in county courts set a record in 2009.
Common pleas courts in Ohio
reported more than 89,000 new foreclosure case filings, a 3.8 percent increase
over 2008 and the 14th consecutive annual increase. Numbers reflect both
residential and commercial properties.
About three-fourths of the state's 88 counties reported an increase.
Morgan County
in southeast Ohio
had the highest percentage increase, nearly 130 percent, seeing 85 new cases
compared to 37 in 2008. Allen County in northwest Ohio showed the highest percentage decrease,
nearly 31 percent, with 690 cases compared to 996 in 2008.
Cuyahoga County,
which includes Cleveland,
had the highest number of new case filings, with more than 14,000.
