Northern Indiana Drug Investigation Yields 36 Arrests

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - A federal drug task force has arrested 36 people in connection with drug trafficking rings that moved cocaine and other drugs into northeast Indiana from Mexico and California.
U.S. attorney David Capp, announced the arrests Monday during a news conference in Fort Wayne, The Journal Gazette reported.
Capps says Fort Wayne- area law enforcement officers intercepted two shipments of cocaine, totaling 5 kilograms with a street value of $150,000 to $200,000.
Tom Gancarz, assistant special agent in charge for the FBI's Indianapolis office, says the arrests mark the largest to date statewide for a Safe Streets Task Force. Such task forces are made up of FBI agents working alongside officers from the Indiana State Police and local law enforcement agencies.
