Kasich's JobsOhio Board Unconstitutional COLUMBUS, Ohio
(AP) - Two Democratic lawmakers and a liberal policy group are filing suit
against the nonprofit job-creation board JobsOhio that was championed by
Governor John Kasich, claiming it violates seven sections of the Ohio Constitution.
The Republican governor signed a law creating the board February 18. It
consists of eight CEOs or business experts and the governor.
State Senator Mike Skindell of Lakewood, state Representative
Dennis Murray of Sandusky,
and ProgressOhio.org filed their challenge to the law in the Ohio Supreme
Court.
The suit says it's unconstitutional for the governor to chair such a business
entity while in office. It also says the state is prohibited from being a joint
owner or stockholder in any private company or association.
Kasich has said the board is on solid legal footing.
