Bryan City Council Meeting

The Bryan City Council met in regular session last night.  The council began by approving a few ordinances including one transferring funds of $365,000 from the 1% Income Tax fund with $275,000 going to the General Fund and $90,000 going to the street fund along with an Ordinance to authorize the purchase of rock salt from ODOT, through the state purchasing program for the 2010-2011 winter season.  The Council also passed a number of resolutions including a resolution to accept a $5,000 donation from the Williams County Reduction and Recycling Center to be used for equipment, labor or facility improvements along with the promotion of continued recycling.  They also passed a resolution authorizing the Bryan Parks and Recreation to file an application and enter into an agreement with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the purpose of acquiring funds through the Division of Forestry’s Urban Forestry Assistance Program.  This is a 50/50 Match Grant, so the Parks and Rec Department is taking $5,000 from their Tree Maintenance Budget, should the grant be approved, to be matched with $ 5,000 to make it a total of $10,000 for the project of removal and replanting park trees that have been invested with the Ash Borer.  The council then reviewed the Annual Report for the Engineering Department where as for their overall budget, Employee Wages are $327,000, Office Budget is $60,000, Building Maintenance is $57,000, Benefits are $53,700 and the Copier-Scanner is $12,000.  They then accepted, with regret, the resignation of Brad Cox from the Bryan Street Department after 36 years effective April 30th.  The council later moved into Executive Session for employment of personnel.
